Welcome to the Beginning

Hello, friend! Welcome to the beginning of "The Festive 52."

I so love planning parties. I love walking in to a space and imagining what it can become. I love discussing what would make you happy. Easing stress and bringing a smile to your face. Helping you bring your ideas together and offering my own as needed. I especially love seeing those ideas materialize into your special day.

I have two kids. A girl, almost two years old, and a little boy, almost five months old. I've been married for six years at the end of June. The decorations at my daughter's first party were from the dollar store and the party didn't feel cheap. My wedding had 350 guests and we spent around $8,000 (no, we didn't serve a dinner) and it was beautiful. I believe it is more about how the party comes together than how much it costs... no need to spend an arm and a leg when pennies will be just as nice!

My brother challenged me to plan a party every week and write about it. He gave me some... interesting ideas. I doubt I'll use these but they are helping me think a little out-of-the-box:
- Kindergarten themed pet funeral after-party
- Make-up themed "my team just lost the Superbowl" party
- Alaskan/antarctic theme for after the last game of t-ball. Team name: Polar Bears
- Coming-of-age party for Amish niece
- "Grandpa's fourth marriage" wedding reception
- High School graduation party for less than $200 for varsity quarterback

Well, brother... Challenge accepted!

Friend, I hope this blog can bring you as much happiness and excitement as I expect it to bring to my life.

Cheers,
Amy
